This release introduces the KindleStore search index in the US locale.Kindle is the new hand held device from Amazon that enables people to read electronic versions of their favorite books, news media, and other publications. The new search index, KindleStore, locates items for sale that can be read on the Kindle, such as books that are available in electronic form. ECS is now called Amazon Associates Web Service.The Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS) is now called the Amazon Associates Web Service (Amazon Associates Web Service). The name change emphasizes the money making opportunities of combining Amazon Associates Web Service with the Amazon Associates program. Amazon Associates Web Service will continue to support sellers. The WSDL and request endpoints have not changed. So, for example, the endpoint for REST requests in the US locale is still https://ecs.amazonaws.com (or http://ecs.amazonaws.com).2007-11-11
This release introduces the Watches search index in the FR locale. You can now use the Watches search index in ItemSearch requests in the FR locale. 2007-10-29

This release introduces a new response element for the MerchantItemAttributes response group: IsEmailNotifyAvailable.The value of IsEmailNotifyAvailable specifies whether or not an e-mail can be sent when the associated item is in stock, This functionality is not available for all offers. 2007-10-29

The previous version of this guide implied that you could add MP3 items to an ECS remote shopping cart. This is not currently the case. You can, however, use the MP3Downloads search index to find MP3 titles to download using Amazon's retail website. This is similar to finding DVDs to download using the UnboxVideo search index and then downloading them using Amazon's retail website.
